Dance Party

We love to dance. Jayne is our main dancing queen. She is literally dancing almost every second of the day. She doesn't stand still ever, and she's not just wiggling around, but very gracefully dancing and twirling. We can't wait to get her into a dance class again someday. Ryan is really getting into the groove now too. Now that he can stand and walking along everything, he holds onto something with one hand and let's loose his dance groove. The funny thing is.... our kids dance just like us. Sorry kids. We know we're white :-) Jayne looks like me and Ryan totally looks like Jason dancing. Too funny!

Like Father, Like Son

Before

So as you've all seen in the pictures since his birth, Ryan has crazy hair. He came out with pretty long hair and it's only been growing like a weed ever since. I felt like he was too little to take him to an actual hair cutting place to get cut, so I've been cutting it here and there so it wasn't totally horrible. But, the time has come to get it professionally done. So we set off to Great Clips today for his first hair cut. I want him to look extra adorable for all his Birthday celebrations coming up in the next few weeks. And wow, he ended up looking exactly like his daddy when he was done. So Adorable!!

I had to hold him on my lap so he could be totally still and not fall out of the chair. I gave him his first ever lollipop and that lasted most of the time. They said he did an amazing job being still. We've had a lot of practice at home when I would try and try to cut his hair but had no idea what I was doing. Jayne took all our pictures since I couldn't. She's a budding photographer!

Jayne loves taking pictures and steals my camera daily to take pictures. But she loves being in them just as much. She couldn't resist turning the camera around and taking this self portrait during the hair cutting session. Not the best angle, but it was too funny not to include in the story.

After: Jason Jr.

We went grocery shopping at Ralph's after and let him ride in the fake car for the first time. Don't worry, I completely sanitized it and strapped him into the sealt belt!

Happy February!

I've always loved February, but now besides Valentines day, we also get to celebrate Ryan's Birthday! It's going to be a fun month. Jayne and I just decorated for Valentines Day. We're hosting a little party for some of her church friends and I'll do my annual Valentines Dinner for Jason. I make him this special german meat dish I only do a few times a year. We don't really do a lot for each other for Valentines day. I just think it's a cute holiday and have more fun doing the arts and crafts stuff with Jayne. As Jason has said, Valentines day is a made up holiday for men to give stuff to their wives, but Jason does things like that year round, without a reason. That means more than doing it on a day he 'supposed' to. I am very lucky and spoiled to have an amazing husband who constantly surprises me with flowers, chocolate shakes (my favorite), clothes, diamonds, and trips. Just becuase he wants to. :-) Here's to a great month. I'll have lots of posts of our fun activites!

January Happenings

Heavenly Moment: Sitting on an almost deserted beach on a perfect day, my kids playing nicely in the sand (not eating it or throwing it), and no one climbing on me (for the moment). Ahhhhhh.......

So January went by in a wave of beautiful sunshine and getting back into our routine after the big holidays. I really haven't posted cause I haven't had any cool pictures. All we've really done different, outside our routine, is go to the beach a ton! I'm obsessed. Its been so beautiful and the kids are so good, playing in the sand and giving me a few moments without kids crawling on me. So we've been at least 6 times in the last 2 weeks. We also had a really fun day with our friends in Burbank! I forgot to bring my camera into the play area so I don't have a picture of that. We also had a fun get together with Leanna and her kids (we also went and had a picnic at the beach), and a fun Superbowl party with Dave and Leanna, and kids, at our house. We had a short but fun trip to my parents while Jason was out of town for work. We got to go to Taryn's field hockey game and she scored her first goal! So exciting. And Jason got to take Jayne to the Daddy and Me day at her preschool last weekend. It's been a great month. I got sick this past week with a sinus infection, but I'm recovering! I'm excited for February and Valentines day. More on that later. Here's a few not great pictures from the past few weeks......

With Jason and kids at the Beach on a Saturday.
Tori, Brooklynn (my cousin), and Jocelyn. Jayne was having a melt down and wouldn't get in the picture. The girls have so much fun together! We love getting together.
Taryn at her Field Hockey Game! I played in HS and loved it. She's only in middle school, but made the middle school team and thinks she might tryout for the HS team next year. I was so excited to catch one of her games and see her score a goal!
Ryan fell asleep on my lap at the game so I actually got to watch! Small miracle :-)

Leaving for Daddy & Me Day. They did it on a Saturday so dad's wouldn't have to take off work. Jason took her out for breakfast too and then their little program at school. She had been talking about it the entire month and loved it!

Jayne had been begging us to take her swimming so we finally did this past weekend. The water was actually warm and the weather perfect. We had a great day. And Jayne swam like a fish! She didn't forget anything and just jumped right in. She even starting to take breaths when she swims really far. I can't wait till this summer.
Jayne took this yesterday at the beach. I guess this pretty much describes our month :-)

A Day at the Beach... in January!

Our way down the hill to the water!

We sometimes get these fluke warm spells, called Santa Ana's, and I love it! It was a perfect 80 degrees with a light breeze. I dropped everything I should be doing and took the kids to the beach! We picked Jayne up from preschool with the car loaded and lunch packed and had a GREAT afternoon. We just went to the beach down the street from our house and it was so perfect! Last summer (ok, it was just a few months ago) I didn't let Ryan really get in the sand cause he was still little and not totally sitting up or crawling great. Now he's almost 1 and he LOVED the sand. He sat there playing in the sand the entire time we were there. He used his little shovel and got sand all over him. He touched it, tasted it (only once and didn't like it), threw it up in the air, and wiggled his toes in it. It was so cute to watch. We all needed some sun after being sick most of December and November with colds. What a perfect day!

Throwing the sand over his shoulder

His one taste test

They are de-sanded and waiting to go

He looks like a big boy! And yes, we turned his seat around about a month early. He weighs enough and legs so long he didn't fit great turned around. He LOVES getting to watch the movies with Jayne now and see me while driving.

First Dentist Visit and Cavity

Jayne had her first visit to the Dentist. She did great! But they found 2 small cavities in her big molars so we had to get them filled. She was a trooper! She hated having a numb lip, but otherwise did fantastic. It was a pediatric dentist and she watched Kung Fu Panda on the TV on the ceiling the entire time, but she was very brave and didn't cry. I know it must have hurt having her mouth all stretched out. Here's to hoping for no more cavities in her baby teeth!

Gotta Love CA

It's been freezing cold ( in the 30's at night and only 60's during the day) and we've even had some rain. We've actually had to get out coats and mittens (at least in the mornings and evenings). I know, pretty funny. We are totally spoiled and frankly, I love it! I like to visit snow, but don't want to deal with it. I like a little bit of cold and having to get jackets on and such, but not for too long. It's supposed to be in the high 70's this week. I can't wait. We're ready again! We found a new beach(to us) called Salt Creek, just a few miles down the street from our house. The day we went down there to explore, we caught the most beautiful sunset. This was 2 days after Christmas and one of the most beautiful evenings and sunsets I've seen anywhere. We can't wait to go back to this beach often for walks, playing, sunsets and sunshine. Moments like this almost make it worth all the boat-loads of extra money, poor schools, and worst traffic in the country to live here :-) And yes, that's Catalina Island right behind us in the picture below. You could see it so clearly, no fog or smog!

The walk down the hill to the sand.
