Where did my black hair go?

Ryan (and Jayne for that matter) was born with this full head of beautiful black hair.
And now, he has a beautiful full head of thick blonde hair. I don't even know what to do with it. I brush it and put jell on it every day trying to get it to do something, and within 30 minutes it's poking out in all directions. It's thick and grows like crazy. I have to trim it all the time or it would be past his shoulders. I'm sure it looks like I chop it since it's fine and you can see every cut, but not sure what else to do. I'm going to figure out how to cut it good. I can't afford taking him in every 2 weeks for a trim! And Jason isn't so fond of the long haired surfer do, so I'll have to learn :-)
Ryan is getting so big! He's pulling up on everything now and crawling all over! I came into his room to get him from a nap a few days ago and this is what I found. He is destroying his bumpers by standing on them, kneeing them, and pulls all his blankets down into his bed. He has a great personality and is so friendly! Everywhere he goes he makes eye contact with the people and starts smiling. They just gush all over him. Mainly it's cute girls and old ladies, but he'll smile at anyone who stops to look him in the eye. And he waits for the eye contact before he starts beaming. He can't nurse in public or the nursing room at church. He wants to look at each person talking and hear what their saying. He won't fall alseep in public, same reasons. He's also starting to smile for the camera, just like my star picture taker Jayne. Ryan is a handful. He lets us know exactly what he wants and when he wants it (whats new) and isn't a good sleeper. We're still up several times a night and have let him cry. A very expensive monitor, noise machine, and humdifier (for his ongoing runny nose) later, things seem to be looking up... a little (meaning only up twice the last 2 nights). We'll see if it lasts :-) But Ryan is a doll. He gives me big kisses and loves to cuddle. He and Jayne are best friends. It's adorable. He'll be nine months tomorrow, the 25! I can't imagine our family without him. I feel lucky to be his mom.

Jayne and Ryan definitely got different features from us, and do look very different, but occasionally I get these glimpses that they look so similar!

Great Weekend: Part 2

Sunday was a great day too. Woke up and had french toast (my favorite), played with the kids and got ready for church. We had tithing settlement at 11 and don't have church until 1:30, so we went to church then headed back home for lunch, then back to church again. In between all that, I did some baking, which I love! I'm not sure if it's how great the house smells after, the fun of doing it and having Jayne jump in and help here and there, or how good it tastes. I did a homemade chicken pot-pie for dinner, so it would be done when we got home, cause we're always starving when we get home from church so late and hate cooking then. I even did the homemade pie crust. My recipe makes 2 pies, so I have another pot pie frozen for another Sunday or crazy busy day. I just love that. I also made some homemade honey whole wheat bread! It turned out great. We'll enjoy it all week. After dinner we made carmel popcorn and watched Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving before putting the kids to bed. Again, nothing major, but just fun and enjoyable. We just haven't had our own space/time/home etc. in so long, it seems simple, but it was just mellow and fun. It's going to be a great week too! We had a great family night on Thanksgiving and Gratitude tonight. Looking forward to several more days of fun and family (and baking)!

**The Kids and I kicked off a great weekend on Friday. I took them on a walk over to our club and played for about 2 hours. We took a picnic lunch, played on the playground, played soccer, and ran around. It was so much fun. I then took a long run home. We went out for dinner, which we haven't done much this month, so that was a great treat for me. Here's the kids on our Friday fun day.

Great Weekend: Part 1

What a great weekend! Nothing major going on, just fun. Saturday we had a great breakfast, took the kids for a run, and ran a few errands. Pretty mellow but very enjoyable. Then Jason watched the kids so I could go see Twilight!! I went to see it with my sis-inlaw Jen, and cousins Emily, Amanda and Emily's friend. We had so much fun! I LOVED the movie. It's hard to really do a book justice but I thought they got it pretty right. I loved the characters and loved seeing the book come to life. Can't wait for New Moon. Jason did great with the kids as usual. We went out for dinner after and had a great time chatting. I don't get breaks from the kids too often so I had to live it up. It was fun and makes you miss your kids (even though I was only gone a few hours). Great day!

Our New Place

So here's a couple pictures of our new place. We still have to organize some things and hang a few things, but overall we're done. It's so nice, especially before the holidays. Can't wait to decorate for Christmas!
Front Room:

Front Room: Walking in the Front Door

Front Room: To the right of the picture above. Room is large so this is facing the other direction when you walk in.

Kitchen/playroom/office combo: I love this room.

Ryan's Room

Jayne's Room

Master: This cuts off the other half of the room that has our dresser and my sewing table. It's pretty big, and we have a beautiful view out the back, 2 separate sinks in the bathroom, and 2 full size closets so jason and I don't have to fight over closet space!

Some projects....

So here are two of my most recent crafts that I just love! I want/need them for myself, but sigh... I never end up doing my crafts for myself, always as gifts. This brown table runner for Thanksgiving was for my sis-in-law, and the monogrammed hand towels were for my mother-in-law. I love the Thanksgiving runner. It was too long to take a picture of the whole thing, so you see each end. I love hemstitched stuff. I have hemstitch tablecloths in every color, just love them. I didn't want to say "Happy Thanksgiving" cause that just seemed to0 obvious and maybe a little cheesy, so I came up with this, and I thought it sounded like Thanksgiving just perfectly! And yes, I did the fall leaves. I'm still figuring out my embroidery machine but I actually thought this turned out pretty good.

Ryan's First USC Game

We took the kids to the USC v. Washington game on Saturday. It poured rain right before we got there (we got there a little late due to the rain), and we had a great time! We got free tickets from a friend of Jason's sister (thanks again!) and it was a total blow-out (like we figured) so it was the perfect game to take the kids to. We had fun, cheered, ate popcorn, and enjoyed. Jayne has been to several games already in her short life, so she was an old pro. She's got the fight song and cheers down, and loves watching the horse come out after a touch down. She's also starting to learn players and positions. Ryan did great! He LOVED having so many things to look at and see. It was a great time!

My dad, uncle and 2 cousins were also at the game on Saturday and they had to sit through the rain since they got there on time. Here's my dad with Jayne!

Happy Halloween

We had a great Halloween. We originally had planned to have a party at my sis-in-law in OC but she got the flu on Thursday night so we had a change in plans. With that family out sick, we were out numbered in OC, so we drove up to Burbank after work (LONG drive!) and met up with cousins, grandparents, and aunt and uncle for the festivities. We spent the night and hit the SC game the next day with the kids. See next post. Ryan was a great sport trick or treating and did great wearing his Giraffe costume. Princess Belle had a wonderful time and got loads of candy! Jason and I are having fun sharing it with her.

Finally, Fall Leaves

With a backyard comes grass, and lucky for us, some fall leaves! Jayne has had so much fun collecting the leaves. She hasn't quite figured out that they will just keep falling until they're all off the tree. Here's some pictures of our backyard that we are so excited to have!
